A cross-border challenge
The Wunderline Challenge, an initiative of Network Chain Mobility Wunderline, brought together students from various nationalities, including the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Iran. Teams were given 10 days to design an eye-catcher for a specific station, linked via a playful draw during the kick-off on 5 November. Their designs had to meet three main criteria: attractiveness, creativity and feasibility. A jury, consisting of experts from both the Netherlands and Germany, had the task of choosing a top three from the entries.
The winner
The team Das Wunderduo eventually won the first prize with their design for Bad Zwischenahn railway station. The idea uses unique elements typical of the municipality, such as St. John's church, the story of the giant catfish in the lake and the natural beauty of the flowers and trees in Bad Zwischenahn. This design stood out positively. It was chosen because it excellently reflects Bad Zwischenahn's local identity, something that is only applicable there. The concept is feasible, realistic and easy to implement.
Creativity connects regions
The Wunderline Challenge is more than a design competition. The project emphasises the importance of cooperation between municipalities along the cross-border rail link and encourages travellers to discover these regions. The students' fresh ideas can serve as inspiration for municipalities, for example, to make the stations along the Wunderline even more attractive for visitors.
