About the Connecting Europe Days
This year's Connecting Europe Days 2024, Europe's flagship mobility event, will take place on 2-5 April at the SQUARE in Brussels, Belgium. Over 2,500 participants from all EU member states and some neighbouring countries will be brought together at the event. Participants include ministers, politicians, financial institutions, industry representatives, transport stakeholders and the European Commission and related agencies.
Flagship project
The Wunderline has been named by the EU as a flagship project (important exemplary project). It receives strong support at regional, national and European level. Since 2015, the European Union has provided funds twice for studies and the first construction phase. Province of Groningen, Land Lower Saxony, Bremen as well as national and local authorities on both sides of the border are working together to realise the project. Currently, the Wunderline partners are jointly studying how best to realise the second construction phase.
Part of the North Sea-Baltic TEN-T corridor
The Wunderline is one of many projects on the international rail connection between Amsterdam and Copenhagen. The Lelyline is in preparation, main station Groningen is rebuilt by 2026, the Friesenbrücke will be ready by the end of 2024, main station Oldenburg will be ready by 2027, works around Bremen and Hamburg are planned and the Fehmarnbelt tunnel (Denmark - Germany) is under construction. Like Europe, this important link on the North Sea-Baltic TEN-T corridor is being built step by step. Together with all these regional, national and cross-border projects and initiatives, we are proud to make an important contribution to European connectivity! Read more about the Wunderline.
